Getting time back... yes it is possible!

Unfortunately time travel is not yet possible, that we know of..... BUT there are often efficiencies to be gained by reviewing current processes.

We have all heard the phrase "time is money" and everyone has tasks that are apart of their job they do week after week. They may not be difficult, and they may not take that long, but they do take time. Omitting some of these redundant tasks can free up employees to better use their time and translate into significant financial gains for a company.

With an extensive background in the financial industry I have seen first hand how implementing processes from a DB perspective can assist end users in a big way.

For example:

Data extracts are obtained from several sources and manually merged so that financial reports can be generated via a tool such as Excel. All of this time consuming manual labor can be avoided using SQL Server tools such as SSIS, SSRS, PowerBI etc. Instead of having to build a a report from the ground up end users can simply run a report in seconds and move on with their day.

In addition to freeing up time to build reports, it also provides greater visibility into the information provided by making it executable ad-hoc by anyone granted access.

To take that concept one step further, subscriptions can be created to not only deliver information on a set schedule, but also deliver customized information to individual users based on their position in a company. (For example the same financial information can be delivered to everyone or the results can be tailored to their specific business sector.) These types of subscriptions are referred to as data driven subscriptions.

If this is something that sounds interesting and you would like to discuss further, feel free to leave a comment or email me at matt@dbaondemand.us. Id be more than happy to talk to you!
